PARSIPPANY, NJ, March 22, 2004
– New research from InfoTech, a leading global research and
consulting firm, identifies that wireless technologies are
growing in importance within the business segment – as
75% of businesses indicate that wireless technologies are more
important to achieving their organization's overall business
goals than they were in 2002.
"InfoTech's latest research reveals a firm commitment
from businesses in regards to wireless solutions in 2004",
states Scott Drobner, wireless program director at InfoTech. "The
increasing importance of wireless is reinforced by business purchase
behavior -- with 69% reporting higher levels of spending on their
mobile strategies over the next 12 months."
InfoTech's study shows that demand is being fueled by an
increased focus on data applications targeting "remote" and "indoor
corporate mobile" workforces. These applications are being
implemented to boost productivity, streamline business processes
and improve user satisfaction. Significant improvements in product
performance and capabilities coupled with falling price points
are also fueling demand.
"Enterprise-focused vendors must be cognizant
that there is no single wireless data technology to meet all
corporate business needs,
as numerous solutions provide trade-offs in terms of bandwidth,
range, and cost," adds Drobner. "For example, although
wireless LAN penetration has reached 50% of businesses, over 70%
anticipate an increase in utilization of mobile wireless data services
from mobile service providers over the next 12 months."
These and many other research findings are presented
in InfoTech's
