BUSINESS SPENDING ON MANAGED SERVICES TO DOUBLE
InfoTech Sees Market Spend Reaching $80B By 2008
PARSIPPANY,
NJ, April 29, 2004 –
New findings from research and consulting firm InfoTech show
spending on Managed Services by U.S. businesses will more than double
from $33B in 2003 to $80B in 2008. Network Management and Managed
Security Services will be the largest and fastest growing service
areas, with Managed IP Telephony Services showing strong growth
for small businesses.
InfoTech found
that deficits in end-user knowledge and skills are a major contributor
to the growth of Managed Services. “With business interest
in Converged Telephony and Enhanced Applications reaching a point
of general market acceptance, companies are increasingly turning
to externally-provided Managed Services to supplement their internal
resources and skills”, according to Warren Williams, Senior
Director for InfoTech’s Enterprise Services practice.
In addition
to examining the key dynamics driving market demand, the study also
underscores the strategic importance of Managed Services to communications
manufacturers and service provider channels. “Besides providing
large service revenues, a Managed Service relationship places the
provider at the customer’s planning table and better positions
them for additional equipment and application sales opportunities”,
adds Williams.
InfoTech’s
